Pulp is adding another chapter to its long-running career with the announcement of a new documentary concert film and a live album. The Britpop group revealed that the film, “Pulp: What Do You Do For an Encore?”, directed by Garth Jennings, will arrive on MUBI this fall.
The project captures a key moment in the band’s recent resurgence and offers a closer look at its journey across more than four decades.
The documentary focuses on two sold-out performances at London’s O2 Arena in June 2025. Those shows took place while Pulp was enjoying renewed success with “More,” the band’s first studio album in 24 years, which reached the top of the UK charts.
Directed by Garth Jennings, known for “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” the film combines footage from the concerts with archival material spanning over 40 years. Jarvis Cocker narrates the story, providing insight into the band’s history and evolution.
Jennings and Pulp share a long creative connection. The filmmaker previously directed the music video for “Help the Aged” in 1997.
“Live!” Album Arrives in August

Alongside the film, Pulp will release a live album titled “Live!” on August 28.
Speaking about the project, frontman Jarvis Cocker said, “A concert is an event where songs come back to life. That’s why this album is called ‘Live!’. It’s both a statement of fact (it’s a recording of a live band) and a challenge (come on! Everyone come alive!).”
The album captures the energy of the band’s live performances and reflects the atmosphere of their recent shows.
Founded in Sheffield in 1978, Pulp became one of the defining acts of the Britpop era during the 1990s, alongside Oasis and Blur. The band remains widely recognized for songs such as “Disco 2000” and “Common People.”
After completing a series of concerts across South America, Pulp is scheduled to continue touring throughout Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Ireland during June and July.
With the release of “Pulp: What Do You Do For an Encore?” and the upcoming “Live!” album, Pulp is documenting a significant period in its career. The film revisits the band’s history through archival footage and recent performances, while the live album captures the spirit of the concerts that accompanied its successful return to the charts.
